About me

My name is Julie and I am the proud owner and founder of Paws For thought Cat Sitting Service which I started in April 2013. I have always had this pure love of cats, my earliest memory I have is of me being with Dinky (our family cat) and I just loved to be with her. I have always felt there is something so special and unique about Cats, I am totally and utterly besotted by them.

My reason for setting up the Service

We all love to go on holiday, but if you are like me, taking your cat on the cattery trip was so stressful, on all of us. It would start with coaxing my cat to actually go into her pet carrier, then to have to listen to the stressed crying of my beloved cat all the way to the cattery.  When we got to the cattery to see my cat looking back at me from their pen, so stressed and sad, and quite afraid. At this point I wished I was not going on holiday, and was very stressed myself.

After returning from holiday I went to collect my cat only to find her looking miserable and distressed, and she had lost a lot of weight! Boy did I feel guilty about this. You see the cattery had done nothing wrong my cat had just hated the whole experience!

After this episode we decided that there must be an alternative to our cat going to a cattery. It was our son who told me about a Pet sitting service he had seen while he was at university, he said "why don’t you do cat Sitting, look after cats in the comfort of their own homes ?", so simple yet so unique. So after a little persuasion and lots of research into pet sitting, I began the journey of setting up Paws For thought Cat Sitting Service.  In March 2013 we had postcards printed, which had a picture of our much loved cat Amber on them, and also details about my Service. In April we started putting the postcards through letter boxes. Soon my phone was ringing (thanks Debs) with an enquiry, no we were not the only ones who had cats who did not get the cattery thing!  Along the way I was then asked if I could look after other family pets such as guinea pigs, rabbits, tropical fish and even chickens and I of course said yes.

I understand it is a big ask to let a stranger into your home, while you are away. To entrust someone not only with your beloved pet, but also your home. The only answer I can give you is to meet me, and then see what you think? I am trustworthy, honest and reliable, and obviously very good with cats.
